A friend of mine asked me, “Why do they still make glass windows, why not something tougher like plastic?”
There is actually two reasons for this:
1. Glass is waterproof. Glass holds up to water quite well, while plastic’s molecular structure can’t stop it from leaking through.
2. UV rays don’t affect glass. Plastic will degrade overtime, even some plastics designed to withstand the sun last only about 20 years. Glass can actually withstand the elements for well past a century, being that if it can avoid other damage.
