Modern Salt Lake City glass windows are manufactured by what’s called Float Glass. It gets it’s name by the process of it’s creation, rolling a sheet of hot glass over molten tin. This technique provides a uniform thickness.

The glass is produced from a mixture of Silica sand, soda ash, sodium sulfate, limestone, and dolomite. Some additives help the strength or coloration of different types of glass. Much of the glass manufactured comes from recycled glass called cullet.
